REFLECTIONS: Time & Space

I got a surprising invitation from an artist friend of mine, Joyce Ozier. Would I join her in a weekend show at the Astro Gallery?

I had never heard of the gallery but I was delighted to be asked. I accepted with alacrity. It was mid-February. Her writer friend, Todd Slobogean, was going to read some of his short stories.

So we had an initial visit to the gallery where I met Todd.

We had many conversations, the three of us, in the space of time before the weekend of April 25. Being artistic & perfectionistic meant that we spent as much time on a 3 day show as we would have for a month-long show. Scenes from our prep at home... Joyce's garage & living room...

...& front hallway...
our two sets of set-up stuff!

Then came the set-up. It was complex because of a double booking problem: we set up one end of the space & the other end had to wait till the next day. It was hard.

Then finally, done!

The event!

Joyce welcomed everyone & introduced Todd who read.
Listening happened.

Here's one of Todd's stories.

There was also an outdoor scene....

Near the end of the evening I noticed life imitating art & asked this viewer to pose for me.

The evening drew to a close.
The next day we struck the set. It went way faster than set-up!

It was a great experience!

Todd had his debut as a reader of his stories which will be published soon. A new identity was born.

And Joyce and I had affirmations of a similar kind. People came, enjoyed our work & expressed appreciation.

That's it for now.
